Do I need a prescription from my doctor?
As of January 1st 2023, registered pharmacists in Ontario are now able to prescribe for minor ailments. To learn more, visit this link from the Ontario College of Pharmacists. It is still advised to consult your doctor on a regular basis or if you have any serious illnesses.
What can I get prescribed for?
The pharmacist is able to consult and prescribe medications for the following 13 minor ailments: hay fever, oral thrush, pink eye, dermatitis, menstrual pain, acid reflux, hemorrhoids, cold sores, impetigo, insect bites and hives, tick bites/lyme disease, muscle sprains and strains, urinary tract infections.
What kind of consultation can I get?
The consultation is for the assessment of any of the 13 minor ailments that pharmacists have authorization to prescribe medications for.
Where will my prescription get sent?
If the pharmacist provides you with a prescription after the assessment, it will be sent to your pharmacy of choice. If you do not have a pharmacy, we can recommend one close to you for pickup or arrange for a free delivery within the GTA.
What if I don't have OHIP coverage?
Consultations can be provided for any of the 13 minor ailments listed for a standard fee of $15, payment can be made over the phone. Prescriptions are provided at the pharmacist's discretion based on an assessment of your condition.
What are your business hours?
We are available 6 days a week, Mon to Fri from 9am to 7pm, and Sat from 9am to 3pm.
Where will the prescriptions be sent from?
The prescriptions will be sent to your pharmacy of choice or from RxToday's affiliated pharmacies - Wellcare Pharmacy or Nam Pharmacy located in North York.
Is RxToday a pharmacy?
No. RxToday only passes on your contact information to a pharmacist at Nam Pharmacy in North York, who will call you to assess your condition.
